The systematic development, provision, and evaluation of environmental figures at Deutsche Bahn AG is based on the process called “Recording and evaluating key environmental figures in the Group.”
DB Schenker Rail also records its figures according to this process. DB Schenker Logistics records its environmental figures for overland transport, for air and maritime transport, for contract logistics, and for its operating facilities.
These figures include all relevant greenhouse gases in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol as well as air pollutants. The environmental footprint was calculated the same way in 2012 as in previous years (since 2007). All data was collected and recorded by the central environmental expertise team and then evaluated using INFRAS to calculate the CO2e footprint of DB Schenker Logistics in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 and EN 16258 standards.
DB Schenker produced total CO2 emissions of around 15.6 million metric tons in 2012.
