DB Schenker is the logistics champion in Germany
DB Schenker defends its position as leader among the providers of logistical services in Germany. This is based on an study conducted by the Fraunhofer Logistics Working Group ATL, the DVZ and the National Logistics Association.
The study compares the top 100 logistics companies, based on revenues, in the German market. Among the “Top 100 Logistics firms,“ Deutsche Bahn’s logistics division was far ahead of its competition with revenues of about 7.1 billion euros in in 2007. Deutsche Post World Net (€ 6.2 billion) and Kühne + Nagel (€ 4 billion) were ranked number two and three, respectively. This marks a repeat of DB Schenker’s performance two years ago when it outranked its competitors in the last study.

The German logistics market is known as one of the world’s toughest because of strong domestic competition. Companies with strong air and ocean freight businesses as well as solid positions in the field of contract logistics, in particular, have achieved success in this market. DB Schenker is ranked number two in the global air freight market and number three in the global ocean freight sector and has the densest land transport network in as well as the biggest European freight railway. The provider of logistical services is ranked number six in the contract logistics segment of the market and offers tailor-made solutions for industry and trade, especially in the high tech, automotive and consumer goods sectors.
