SOLAS Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Processing & Fees - USA
We are quickly approaching the July 1, 2016 implementation date for the new SOLAS VGM requirements.
If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to visit our website and read the latest updates about SOLAS.
For FCL shipments, Schenker has made available a VGM certificate on line for you to submit VGM data. You are welcome to use this editable form, or you may use your own form provided that it meets all mandatory requirements. As we receive your VGM certificates, we will ensure all mandatory fields are complete and Schenker will submit the data electronically to the carrier on your behalf. Please make every effort to provide your VGM certificates as promptly as possible.
For LCL shipments, Schenker is the shipper of record and we will submit VGM data to the carrier for the entire container. Each shipment received at our CFS stations will undergo a screening process for damage, overage, piece count discrepancy and will be individually weighed using calibrated scales. We will not require VGM certificates from our LCL customers.
As previously advised the new SOLAS regulations will further add cost, processing time and complexity to ocean supply chain for export shipments from the USA. Schenker has completed a full analysis of the additional costs involved with the coordination and submission of accurate VGM data. Effective July 1, 2016, we will being assessing a SOLAS VGM Submission Fee to all US Ocean Export shipments as noted below:
FCL $25.00 per Container
LCL $15.00 per Bill of Lading
We appreciate your understanding in this matter. We continue to work diligently on your behalf to comply with the new SOLAS requirements while minimizing potential disruptions.
