DB Schenker is voluntarily participating in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWaySM Program.
SmartWaySM Transport is an innovative collaboration between the EPA and the freight sector designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions, and improve energy security.
Companies that participate in SmartWaySM Transport programs save money, reduce fuel consumption and are recognized for their social responsibility and leadership.
We are pleased that DB Schenker in the USA achieved high performer status in 2008, reaching the score of 1.25, the top score of the program!
The SmartWay program:
- Identifies products and services that minimize transport related emissions.
- By 2012, the initiative aims to reduce between 33-66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
- The initiative will result in fuel savings of up to 150 million in barrels of oil annually.
